{"id":156,"date":"2014-11-03T10:11:36","date_gmt":"2014-11-03T17:11:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/?p=156"},"modified":"2015-01-05T11:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-01-05T18:00:00","slug":"full-moon-at-canyon-de-chelley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/?p=156","title":{"rendered":"Full Moon, Canyon de Chelley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/canyon-chelly-spider-rock.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-162 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/canyon-chelly-spider-rock-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"canyon-chelly spider rock\" width=\"265\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a>Spider Rock at Canyon de Chelley, Arizona&#8230;an awesome sight at any time of the year, day or night.\u00a0 EarthWalks will be traveling to this spectacular red rock canyon on Full Moon, November 6 2014.\u00a0 We will journey through this part of the Southwest not on a typical &#8220;tour&#8221; but as pilgrims on sacred travel.\u00a0 From Santa Fe, New Mexico we take a spectacular route around the Jemez Mountain Range, cross the Chama River near Abiqui (the home of the late artist Georgia O&#8217;Keefe) and Ghost Ranch.\u00a0 We will be under the gaze of Tsi Ping mountain (known to the Spanish as Pedernal), a site sacred to Native Americans in the area.\u00a0 Here is a photo:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC02377.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-73\" src=\"https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC02377-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DSC02377\" width=\"265\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a>It is said that some Dine or Navajo people believe this is the home of Changing Woman, the mythical figure who was responsible for many transitions in life, including the seasons:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/www.firstpeople.us\/FP-Html-Legends\/Changing_Woman-Navajo.html\" href=\"http:\/\/www.firstpeople.us\/FP-Html-Legends\/Changing_Woman-Navajo.html\"> http:\/\/www.firstpeople.us\/FP-Html-Legends\/Changing_Woman-Navajo.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On past Chaco Canyon, then driving close to the mythical Shiprock, a volcanic feature that resembles not a ship but rather a huge bird with outstretched wings&#8230;relating to the Dine\/Navajo legend about this spectacular feature.
