(Those who wish can stay outside the sweat and assist with the fire and prayers.) Meals in the canyon will be a group activity (preparation and clean up.)<\/p>\n<p>Friday, October 20\u00a0we travel by truck to the Spider Rock for contemplation and time exploring the spectacular area around Spider Rock\u00a0in the quiet of the canyon.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday, October 21\u00a0 we visit Kathryn Pemala who has been a long time weaver on her family farm in the canyon. \u00a0An important element of every Earth Walks is \u201cservice learning\u201d\u2013learning about traditional cultures while we offer service and \u201creturn the gift\u201d of living in this great land. \u00a0We may be clearing weeds from farm land and orchards, helping with the animals, doing repairs or a variety of other activities. \u00a0Kathryn will share her method and meaning of weaving with us and we will share lunch together as well.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_550\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Kathryn-Pemala-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-550\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-550\" src=\"https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Kathryn-Pemala-3-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Kathryn-Pemala-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/earthwalks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Kathryn-Pemala-3-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-550\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Kathryn Paymella, Dine (Navajo) Weaver<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Our final evening, participants have the option of staying at the Sacred Canyon Lodge near the entrance of the canyon. \u00a0There is free camping available adjacent to the Lodge.
